• 1972-date: editing of innumerable manuscripts and book chapters, and reviewing of many grant and book proposals

• *1986 (Sep.): statement prepared, "Some nomenclatural and botanical aspects of jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis)," for Tax Court Case of Laglia versus the IRS. I was the expert witness for the IRS and testified in court.
• 1988 (May): anatomical analysis of foreign plant material in a pizza
• 1992 (July): anatomical analysis of wood samples
• 1993 (May): anatomical analysis of plant material in baskets from China, relevant to a U.S. Custom's case
• 2001 (Mar.): taxonomic identification of street materials in Hayward, California, relevant to a city road-widening project
• *2001 (Mar.): untitled statement prepared for anatomical analysis of wood samples for a murder case in Alaska. I did not appear in court.
• *2001 (Sep.): untitled statement prepared addressing the general appropriateness of using the Science Citation Index (SCI) in personnel cases. I did not appear in court.
• *2004 (Mar.): untitled statement prepared for taxonomic identification of bludgeoning weapon involved in a double-murder case in Fremont, California. I did not appear in court.
